The Lubbock Police Department will participate in a nationwide community building campaign.

The LPD will take part in National Night Out 2012 on August 7th, which is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized.

Many cities and towns celebrate this event with a variety of neighborhood events, in addition to the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils. Neighborhood associations and individual event organizers interested in requesting LPD attendance at their gathering are invited to call 775-2969.

More information on this event is available at www.nationalnightout.org.
