One man is in police custody after being arrested for outstanding warrants, yet those are not the reason why the police originally arrived at his house.

Lubbock police received a report that a man was firing an assault rifle at the ground in the 3000 block of Avenue U this morning, then forced his way into the nearby home.

Police arrived at the home expecting a hostage situation. The man and his girlfriend had stepped outside of the house not knowing of the call, to see over a dozen police officers surrounding the home.

Upon further investigation, it seems as though the man had fired a paintball gun at the ground, and then went back inside.

The man was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, but no charges will be filed for this morning’s incident.
