Lubbock police are investigating two weekend shootings on the eve of the New Year. One could turn out to be a homicide.

Late Saturday night  one person was found shot inside a car at a 7/11 near the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Police say three men pulled into the gas station in a 2005 Mazda SUV.

The gunshot victim--who has not been identified--was taken to University Medical Center where he was listed as a security patient late last night. Officers determined that the man was wounded by a shotgun blast in  a residence in the 1200 block of 26th Street.

Last night, shots were fired at a central Lubbock apartment complex, leading to a 10 minute standoff between police officers and occupants in  one of the rooms. It happened at the Garden Apartments in the 1300 block of Avenue P around 9:45 p.m.

Police say someone inside one of the apartments shot at a white SUV in the complex's parking lot. They found the SUV with the shooting victims nearby and were told where the shots may have come from.

After the brief standoff, three people inside the apartment came out one-by-one. None were immediately arrested.
