Lubbock Police have arrested two people in connection with a burglary Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a civil disturbance just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 14th at 202 52nd Street.

Stoney Mungia, Leanna Maldonado, and another subject reportedly attempted to enter the home and assault the resident over an incident that had occurred the previous day.

According to a press release from Lubbock Police, the victims engaged the intruders as they entered the home. They pushed the intruders outside, where they continued to assault the victims.

One of the intruders was reportedly striking the victims with a bat when another victim stabbed the intruder in the back with a knife, causing Maldonado, Mungia, and the other suspect to flee the scene.

They were taken into custody by police at 34th Street and Avenue Q.

The 20-year-old Mungia and 23-year-old Maldonado have been charged with felony burglary and engaging in organized crime.
