On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin joined Chad and Rex in studio to discuss what happened at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

During the council meeting, Mayor Martin talked about the proposed rate increase for Lubbock Power and Light. He said that he is opposed to a rate increase and sees no need to increase it at this time. He also talked about the LP&L rebates, saying that there are not enough votes on the council to either raise LP&L rates or remove the rebates.

Mayor Martin also spoke about the Texas Department of Transportation funding several construction projects for Ports to Pains. Projects include expansions of both Highway 87 and Loop 289.
