On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin joined Chad and Rex live at Reese Golf Center to discuss yesterday's city council meeting.

The city budget was the topic of the day during Mayor Martin's visit. He said the city will be looking at 2 major expenses: a new health insurance plan and a new fire station. Mayor Martin also said that he will not cut expenses from such sources as the fire and police stations. Martin added that the federal grants Lubbock had been receiving are going away, and that will have an effect on the new budget.

Mayor Martin also briefly touched on the issues of taxes, retirement funds, redistricting, and bounce houses.
