On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac in his first post-operation interview after his open heart surgery.

Last Tuesday, Robertson underwent open heart surgery after an angiogram revealed almost complete blockage in several arteries. One week later, he has returned home and is recovering well, even going back to City Hall for a little bit. Robertson had nothing but praise for the cardiologists and staff at Covenant Hospital.

"We are so fortunate to live in Lubbock with the great medical facilities that we have. You can not go wrong in Lubbock, Texas with medical. You can go as far as Houston and we can compare with anything they have there. And I just feel very fortunate that if I had go through that, at least I went through it in an area like Lubbock where we truly are the medical experts."

While Robertson is recovering, Mayor Pro Tem Karen Gibson will assume the duties of mayor. She will also chair this Thursday's city council meeting, where it is expected they will discuss the potential ban on synthetic marijuana.
