Scott Folkerts, 32, of Lubbock pleaded guilty this week to a charge of manslaughter for a crime he committed in 2013.

Folkerts was driving his Honda Civic over 100 miles in April of 2013, police said. He ran through the intersection of 82nd and Slide and collided with several vehicles. Folkerts injured two people, and one of the victims, Drew Baize, died at the scene.

Folkerts was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, then was sent to the Lubbock County Detention Center more than a week later.

Thought Folkerts made bail in May 2013, today witnesses testified in the court and a judge will sentence him within the next few days.
