The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees has appointed a new principal for Parkway Elementary.

At their meeting Monday morning, the LISD School Board hired Kevin N. Word as the new principal for Parkway Elementary School. Word received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from West Texas A&M University.

Joshlyn Cotton will serve as the new associate principal at Parkway. Cotton is currently the assistant principal at Whiteside Elementary.

Board members also approved the purchase of computer-adaptive intervention software for reading and math instruction for all grades. This software is designed to target the individual instruction level of each student, and was purchased with designated state, federal, and grant funding, according to a press release.

Also approved by trustees is the purchase of world language labs, to increase opportunities for oral expression in language classes.
