An area school district will unveil their new smartphone app Thursday.

Lubbock ISD will introduce parents and others involved in the district to their new app, which they say is designed to provide easier and more convenient access to district information.

The app, titled “Lubbock ISD,” is the first of its kind for a school district in West Texas.

The free app is available through the Apple iTunes store and the Google Play store.

The demonstration will begin at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 21st in room 204 of the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center, located at 32nd Street and Avenue Q.

The app features a district academic calendar, district news, an events calendar, a directory, and contact information for both the district and each school.
