The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees this morning approved a set of proposed changes to the student dress code for the 2012-2013 school year, as well as made some administrative changes.

The main changes are: students are no longer allowed to wear baggy or sagging pants, tattoos on students must be covered, extreme hair styles and colors are banned- and male students through eighth grade are not allowed to wear earrings.

Five new elementary school principals were also named during today’s meeting. Tom Thomas will move from Tahoka ISD to become principal at Bean Elementary. Lisa Thompson-Davis will leave her position at Dunbar College Predatory Academy to take the position at Bayless Elementary. Bonnie Bowman who has worked several assistant principal positions in the district was named the new principal of Parsons elementary. Debbie Wheeler, who is currently the assistant principal at Stewart and Williams Elementaries, will become the new principal of Stewart Elementary. Current assistant principal of Wolffarth Elementary School Cindy Andrews will assume principal duties at Wheelock Elementary.

The board also voted to accept $3 million from Plains Capital Bank and rename the athletic complex including Lowery Field PlainsCapital Park.
