At their meeting this morning, the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees recognized exceptional students, named a director of human resources and made technology purchases for the district.

The Board recognized 11 National Merit Semifinalists, 1 from Coronado High School and 10 from Lubbock High. The lone CHS student recognized is Taylor Reasoner. The 10 from LHS are Raleigh Anderson, Stephen Berg, Midora DuBose, Christine Kobaza, Alexander Martinelli, Waverly Roeger, Bethany Rolan, Ruvinee Senadheera, Samuel Whittlesey and Yu Tong Zhang.

The board also named Jimmy Moore as director of Human Resources in Quadrant 1 and 2. Moore is the associate principal at Estacado High.

The board also approved an online digital system where students can access digital books anytime of the year and 24 hours a day.Student can check out digital content on PC or Mac Computers, smart phones, and mp3 players.

Also approved were the purchase of 2,100 tablet devices for use at seven secondary campuses that are participating in the Achieve 3000 reading intervention program.
