The Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees today officially named Dr. Berhl Robertson Superintendent of Schools. Three weeks ago, Robertson was named the sole finalist for the position.

Robertson said, “This is a great school district and I am really excited to be given this opportunity. The strength of LISD is in its people and my goal is do everything we can as administration to support our teachers and campuses, focusing on continued academic improvement.”

The LISD board also named Dr. Jerry Adams the new principal of Coronado High School. Dr. Adams previous served a principal of New Deal High School in north Lubbock County.

The previous principal for Coronado High School, Lynn Akin, was promoted to the position of Director of Student Administrative Services for LISD.

In additional action from the board, a budget of $199.6 million was approved for the next fiscal year.  The budget is $13 million higher than the previous budget.  Also, stipends of $1,000 were also approved for teachers in certain non-weighted math and science courses at the high school level.
