Lubbock ISD at a press conference this morning announced a $3 million donation from Dallas-based PlainsCapital Bank. As part of the donation, the athletic complex that includes Lowrey Field, Moegle Field and Monterey’s softball field will be named PlainsCapital Park.

Right now Lowrey Field, the home to LISD's four varsity football teams, is undergoing a large scale renovation that includes new on-site locker rooms, new scoreboard, new press box, new luxury seating area tentatively named the Lowrey Club and upgrades to concession stands and restrooms.

LISD Board President James Arnold said, "The new PlainsCapital Park will host a variety of events from UIL competitions, playoff games, along with other regional contests. The economic development opportunities will benefit Lubbock for decades to come. The partnership with PlainsCapital, made it happen.”

Lubbock ISD Superintendent Karen Garza, Ph.D. said, “The support of PlainsCapital Bank with a gift of this magnitude is very significant for our school district. These funds will enhance academic, fine arts and athletic endeavors in the district for many years to come.” “This announcement is the next chapter in a long relationship with this valued partner,” she added.

John Owens, PlainsCapital Bank regional chairman said, “PlainsCapital Bank has been a long-time supporter of the Lubbock community and we’re pleased to be part of this project. We look forward to the new PlainsCapital Park and continuing to support LISD in its academic, fine arts and athletic initiatives.”
