Three of the district’s five Academic Decathlon teams from Lubbock ISD qualified at their regional meet for the state competition this month in San Antonio.

Students from The Talkington School for Young Women Leaders won the small school division, Lubbock High School students advanced in the medium school division and students from Monterey High School in the large school division. According to a press release from the district, LISD is the only district in Texas to have a qualifying team in all three divisions.

Monterey’s team advanced by beating five other teams in the region, Talkington and Lubbock High competed at-large and qualified by meeting a point-standard.

The three teams will compete later this month in San Antonio at the state competition.
