Monday night (June 13), one person was killed in a house fire in Central Lubbock.

The fire broke out in the living room of a residence located in the 1200 block of 49th Street around 8:30 p.m.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze fairly quickly and were able to confine the flames to the living room of the residence. At this time, it is unclear if the deceased person in the home was killed by the fire or died prior to it.

KAMC News reports family members of the victim arrived on the scene, but no names have been released.

The Lubbock Fire Marshal and Lubbock Police are investigating the fire and the victim's official cause of death.
