Lubbock local Travis Motsenbocker was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning (Nov. 8) while attempting to help a wounded dog in the road.

At 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning, Motsenbocker (26) was stopped at an intersection on North Slide road aiding a dog when he was struck by a car. According to Lubbock police, the car left a gold residue on his clothing, which will be sent off for further testing.

Motsenbocker leaves behind a wife of one year, Amanda. His friends gathered at the spot to remember him, saying he was a kind and fun-loving guy who will be dearly missed.

Old roommates of Motsenbocker, Amy Martinez and Luis Pamas, shared their memories.

"We're just so sorry to hear about this, we loved Travis and we grew up with him, he was like a brother to us, he was family to us, and we wish things were better," said Martinez (quote via Everything Lubbock).

"He was a great guy all around," Pamas told the website.
