A Lubbock ISD basketball coach has announced his resignation.

Lubbock High School Women’s Basketball Coach Brad Blalock released a statement late Wednesday announcing his resignation.

“I came to Lubbock High wanting to build the women’s basketball program,” said Blalock. “This has been a frustrating season for me and my players. For a coach, sometimes the best thing you can do for a program is to walk away and give your student athletes a fresh start.”

Blalock continued, saying “I’ve decided it’s in the best interest of my team and my family for me to resign as the head coach of Lubbock High women’s basketball. I want them to continue to grow and compete at the highest levels.”

Blalock took the Lubbock High coaching position in 2010.
