The Lubbock High School team of computer science students who won the 2014 United States Zero Robotics Competition at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) last January.is now set to compete at the same competition, but on and international level!

Calling themselves the Gru Crew (a reference to Steve Carrell's character in "Despicable Me" and also the term for the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia), the team holds a current ranking of 12th in the world.

The LHS team team is coached by Sam Black and is made up of students, seven students: Carter Airhart, Carl Smith, Michael Cheon, John Shin, James Parsons, Jonathan Gibson, Joseph Berumen, Joshua Emanuel, Justin Rodriguez, Kelly Jiang, Perry DuBose, Peter Lee, Kenny Porter, Ross Raedeke and Stephen Azatian.
