Three gold dealers in Lubbock have been arrested after an undercover investigation linking them to criminal activity.

50-year-old John H. Scott Jr., 60-year-old Stephen Zane Hall and 78-year-old Richard Bowles have been charged with failing to report the purchase of regulated metals.  The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation focused on two business locations,  The Gold Stop at 2423 34th St. and John’s Pay More Gold Stop at 2147-B 50th Street.

Officers seized assets of more than 900,000 dollars which are now subject to forfeiture. The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation was prompted by information gathered during previous investigations of thefts and burglaries throughout Lubbock and the surrounding area.

The sheriff’s office said more arrests and charges are possible as the investigation continues.
