An annual holiday service provided by the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office is now being offered.

Patrols throughout the county are being increased by the Sheriff’s Office for Operation St. Nick. The program increases patrols in certain areas due to crime trends, to take an early stand against crime during the holiday season.

Operation St. Nick is a response to heightened criminal activity during the holiday season, and redistributes the resources of the Sheriff’s Office to help improve coverage in the County.

This program has been successful in years past, and last year resulted in the recovery of $131,000 in stolen property. Over 470 suspicious persons and vehicles were located last year due to Operation St. Nick as well.

Anyone with non-emergency information on suspicious activity or that may help authorities solve a crime is urged to contact the Operation St. Nick phone line at 775-1405 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Reports may be made 24 hours a day through the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office at 775-1600, and as always, emergency calls should be made through 911.
