Recently on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe joined Matt and guest co-host Scott Mann, The Sandstorm Scholar, in the studio to discuss current issues in Lubbock County.

Rowe talked about the rapid growth of the county, and the subsequent need for expansion in the Sheriff's department and it's facilities. Also in the discussion was the trend of some states legalization of marijuana, how it affects those states, and it's conflicts with federal drug laws.

Rowe said,

If anybody wants to know how legalization's working in Colorado, just ask the mayor and the police chief, I'm sure they've got plenty to tell you.

Rowe also addressed trends in opiod use, and gang-related violence in Lubbock. About the rise in gang activity, Rowe said,

Unfortunately that's showing no signs of slowing down. We you look at the numbers, it's unbelievable the amount of folks we're identifying on a daily basis that meet sufficient criteria to be entered into the Texas gang database.
