A Lubbock County officeholder will run unopposed in the upcoming primary.

Lubbock County Clerk Kelly Pinion will not have a challenger on the ballot in the March 4th, 2014 Republican Primary.

No Democrats filed to run for the position in their primary, meaning that Pinion will remain unopposed in the November 2014 general election as well.

The Lubbock County Republican Party was forced to pull Inethia Taff’s name from the ballot after her filing fee check bounced.

Lubbock County Republican Party Chairman Carl Tepper said “Inethia had to be removed from the ballot due to insufficient funds in her checking account – something a lot of us have done over our lifetimes. Unfortunately in this case, there’s no recourse for her to get back on the ballot.”

Pinion has held the County Clerk position since 2006, which is a four-year term.
