On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News Scott Morris, candidate for judge for Lubbock County Court at Law #1, talked with Chad and Rex about his run for judge.

Morris said that most of the time, the race for judge comes down to two things: case demeanor and the efficiency of the judge. But Morris says there's a lot more to the race than that.

[This court] is a misdemeanor criminal court. And what I like to tell people is that's our "gateway" crimes. This is the possession of marijuana before somebody moves to cocaine or methamphetamine. It's breaking into cars before somebody starts breaking into houses. And in my opinion that is our best opportunity to have a positive impact on people's lives."

Morris said that he finds nothing wrong with accepting contributions from attorneys, but that he would not solicit any of those contributions. Morris also discussed his prior legal experience, as well as the changes he would like to see if he were elected judge.
