Lubbock County Commissioners met Monday afternoon to outline the process for filling Judge Rusty Ladd’s empty court seat. Commissioners posted notification of the empty seat on the County Court at Law last week, and set a deadline of November 14th to fill it.

Bill McCay talked of the decision making process, saying “We can’t even begin to replace Judge Ladd, but we are charged with filling that bench.”

Judge Ladd passed away after a motorcycle crash last month. Applicants for the position must be licensed attorneys who have lived in Lubbock for two years, and must fill out a form reviewing their education, work history and community involvement. Applications are due November 2nd.
