Lubbock County Commissioners will consider giving final approval to the upcoming year’s tax rates.

The proposed fiscal year 2012-13 tax rate is 34.6 cents per $100 of home valuation, a 1.7 cent increase from the current rate.

This means that a person with a $100,000 home would pay about $17 more in taxes to Lubbock County.

The Commissioners will also consider adoption of the 2013 budget, which includes more than $1.7 million in pay raises for employees within the County, as well as more money for new positions within the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.

The group will also consider lowering the Lubbock County Hospital District tax rate from 12.07 cents to 11.919 cents per $100 valuation.

Public hearings on these issues will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lubbock County Courthouse, located at 904 Broadway.

The Lubbock City Council will also give final consideration to the tax rate and budget for the upcoming fiscal year on Thursday at City Hall.
