The Lubbock County Commissioners Court will meet this morning at 10am and discuss extending the current burn ban in place for the county. The current burn ban was put into place at the end of December and its been in effect ever since.

Commissioners will also consider a ban on fireworks usage throughout the whole county.  As KFYO News first reported, the City of Lubbock has already canceled the fireworks display scheduled for Mackenzie Park on 4th of July due to the drought.  The Commissioners Court is expected to rule that the whole county is too dry for the use of fireworks. Fireworks, for the 4th of July holiday, are allowed to be sold June 24-July 4 in the State of Texas.
