At next Thursday’s Lubbock City Council meeting, the council will discuss closing some City swimming pools, according to a Facebook post from District 1 Councilman Victor Hernandez.

District 3 Councilman Todd Klein released a statement Wednesday morning, saying that he is against the closing of any of the City’s four municipal swimming pools.

“The pools provide a great benefit to the children in our community,” Klein said. “At the next council meeting, I will propose to maintain operations for the four city pools.”

Discussion of closing some municipal swimming pools comes during Council talks regarding the drought contingency plan for the spring and summer of this year.

The citizen comment portion of the February 9th City Council meeting begins at 7:30 a.m.

District 4 Councilman Paul Beane weighed in on the issue on KFYO's morning program earlier in the week.
