Texas Highways Magazine, which bills itself as "The Travel Magazine of Texas," had its readers name the top 40 travel destination in the Lone Star State. Lubbock did not fare well.

I guess making the list means something, but Lubbock came in dead last on the top 40.

Lubbock placed behind such hot spots (joking) as Amarillo and Ben Wheeler (where the hell is Ben Wheeler?).

Probably even more interesting than Lubbock coming in last is the readers choice for first. San Antonio takes the no. 1 slot as a place that tourists should visit.

There's not a whole heck of a lot of explanation at this time, but apparently that info is forthcoming. The full list can be viewed at Texas Highways' website.

So what do you think? There's not much here, but do we deserve that spot on the list?  Where do you take folks when they visit?
