An area organization is working to raise the funds for an annual remembrance of veterans that have passed away.

The Lubbock Civil Air Patrol is participating in Wreaths Across America, and the group will adorn veterans’ graves with evergreen wreaths.

On December 15th, Lubbock’s CAP members will place the wreaths on the graves of an estimated 2,000 veterans interred at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, which will coincide with tributes occurring simultaneously across the nation.

The campaign will officially kick off on Friday, October 19th and Saturday, October 20th from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Gander Mountain, located at 4006 West Loop 289.

Wreaths can be sponsored for $15 by visiting CAP’s table at Gander Mountain, or online at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.
