The Lubbock City Council will meet Thursday evening in a regularly scheduled meeting at 5:15pm at City Hall.

KAMC News reports the council will consider approving a $1.1 million dollar expenditure to expand 50th Street westward from Milwaukee Avenue to Upland Avenue. If approved, the westward expansion of 50th Street would replace part of County Road 6900. Construction would take between one to two years to complete.

The council will consider rejecting three bids to purchase Lubbock Power & Light land near 5th Street and Avenue J. The top bid to purchase the land of "LP&L Plant #1" is worth $116,000.

The council will also make four appointments to the city’s Electric Utility Board (EUB) and consider naming an interim city attorney.

The EUB seats up for renewal for new two-year terms are: Clayton Isom, Jane Henry, Stephanie Hill and James "Drew" Tucker. According to the City of Lubbock, Isom has served three terms on the EUB and is ineligible for re-appointment. The EUB provides oversight over Lubbock Power & Light.

Finally, the current City Attorney, Chad Weaver, will become interim city manager later this month after James Loomis officially retires. It is assumed that an assistant city attorney currently on staff will be appointed interim city attorney.
