Lubbock Christian University is rolling out the red carpet for one of its own. Five days of events have been planned in celebration of the inauguration of LCU’s 6th president, L. Timothy Perrin, JD.

Perrin has come full circle, with his journey having begun right here in Lubbock: He graduated from LCU in 1984. One has to wonder if that young Perrin could have envisioned the trajectory that his career would eventually take.

He most certainly could not have foreseen spending two decades at Pepperdine University, as first a professor, and then as dean of the Law school. Nor could he have imagined himself returning 28 years later to assume the presidency of his alma mater. Yet he did, and he has.

Such meteoric success deserves to be celebrated elaborately. Thus it seems apropos that LCU has lined up a rather impressive array of speeches, luncheons, exhibits, and concerts.

Many of the events are open to the public, and the most high-profile of these should have residents marking their calendars: “A Conversation with Kenneth W. Starr,” which is on Monday, September 24th at 7pm in the McDonald Moody Auditorium; and the “Investiture Convocation” of president Perrin, which is on Thursday, September 27th at the RIP Griffin Center.
