An area university will be holding commencement ceremonies this weekend.

Lubbock Christian University will be holding two commencement exercises for spring graduates, marking the first time that they will hold separate commencement ceremonies for graduate students and undergraduate students.

Dr. Ken Jones will be delivering the commencement address at the events. Jones has taken the job of chancellor at LCU, and L. Timothy Perrin will be taking over as LCU’s president.

This weekend’s theme for the ceremonies is the “family affair,” recognizing two separate families with a long standing affiliation with LCU, in which both parents and their children will be walking the commencement stage as members of the spring 2012 class.

183 undergraduate and 41 graduate degrees will be awarded at the commencement ceremonies.

The graduate ceremonies will take place Friday, May 4th at the Baker Conference Center at 7:30 p.m.

The undergraduate ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5th and the Rip Griffin Center, located at 25th Street and Chicago Avenue.
