The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has recognized a longtime Lubbock educator.

At a meeting Friday, the group passed a resolution honoring Rosa Llanas for her 35 years of dedication to the Lubbock Independent School District.

Llanas was a creator of the Junior Ambassador program with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. She has also been awarded the 2008 Youth Advocate award, Top 20 Hispanics in Lubbock for 2008, and honored by the Texas Tech College of Education in 2005.

Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Chairwoman Irasema Velasquez said “Mrs. Llanas has shown passion in not only the arena of education but as a leader in her community. Her years of dedicated service have been invaluable to Lubbock.”
