Friday afternoon, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce announced the hiring of Christye Weld as Vice President of Business Development. Weld will begin her duties at the Chamber on Monday, March 17.

Weld's previous experience includes three years as the Membership Representative at the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. She also has been actively involved with the Lubbock Chamber serving as an Ambassador.

Weld, is a Texas Tech University graduate and she currently sits on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of North Texas and the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas.

According to the Chamber, as the Vice President of Business Development for the Chamber, Weld will work to increase the Chamber’s ability to offer stellar programs and services to its members by providing a core stream of diversified events that expand non-dues revenue, showcase member businesses and offer valuable networking opportunities. Other responsibilities include: organize, plan and coordinate the Chamber’s Business Expo and the Hub City BBQ Cook-off, identify issues that will impact Lubbock and member businesses, and formulate, prioritize and promote the business positions on behalf of the Chamber membership.
