More than 80 South Plains residents will head to the state’s Capitol next week.

The group with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will go to Austin for State Government days on January 23rd and 24th.

Attendees from Lubbock include Leadership Lubbock and Focus Lubbock class participants, as well as committee members of both programs. They are expected to meet with state leaders including Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples and Texas Supreme Court Justice Phil Johnson.

“Not only do participants get the opportunity to learn firsthand how our government works, but they are given the chance to meet our state dignitaries and learn more about the history of Texas,” said Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tim Collins.

The two groups travel to the Capitol each year to interact with local legislators.
