On Friday's Lubbock's First News, Jennifer Simek joined Tom Collins and Laura Mac to talk about the weekly Children's Garden Club at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum.

The Children's Gardening Club takes place every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon,  is completely free, and is a great place for children to learn about the world of gardening, and to gain knowledge of plants and their care.

Even during inclement weather, the facility has an indoor interpretive center with games, activities and books that will help them learn about plants.

Simek also gave information about the next "Second Saturday" event that will feature Dr. Joey Young, "The Turf Doctor" as a speaker. Also featured will be an entomologist and a butterfly event, where kids may release live butterflies and lady bugs into the gardens.

More information about Lubbock's arboretum is available on their Facebook page.
