HOUSTON (KKAM/KFYO) --- Tuesday night's AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl was a showcase of the talents of LSU Tigers running back Leonard Fournette.

Fournette scored four touchdowns as he rushed for 212 yards and was named the unanimous MVP of the bowl game in LSU's victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 56-27.

The Red Raiders were behind the Tigers by one point at two separate times in the ball game. The last time was at the 10:28 mark of the third quarter when Reginald Davis scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes. Davis' touchdown made the score 21-20.

At that point, LSU stuck with the game plan by keeping the ball on the ground and in the hands of Fournette. The Tigers scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter after being up by just one point.

On consecutive drives for LSU, Fournette rushed for touchdowns from 43 yards and 4 yards out. Then, QB Brandon Harris scampered for a 26-yard touchdown run with nine seconds left in the third quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 42-20

The Red Raiders broke the Tigers' scoring streak at the 12:20 mark of the fourth quarter. Patrick Mahomes connected with Jakeem Grant for his second touchdown of the game. That made the score 42-27.

Mahomes finished the game 25/48 passing for 346 yards and four touchdowns with one interception.
