Creator of the Lola Blue handbags, Jessica Williams of Lubbock talked to Tom and Laura on how her idea became a franchise and partnering with Susan G. Komen's Laugh for the Cure event.

Williams started sewing handbags on her mother's sewing machine making a diaper bag for a friend and expanded to doing mostly custom work before opening her first retail store 3 years ago. Lola Blue participated in some Dallas markets and is now in about 80 different retail locations across the United States.

Williams herself has not been personally affected by breast cancer, however, her business partner's aunt was diagnosed and is a survivor.

Williams said:

What really got us involved in this was we went to church with a beautiful woman. We participated in the Laugh for the Cure that year after her diagnosis and we just did a custom design purse. That's all we had done up until this year.
