On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Christy Fisher from Llano Estacado Winery talked with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew about an exciting wine festival coming up this month.

The 1st Annual Lubbock Wines and Vines Festival will be held Friday, September 28th and Saturday, September 29th. The festival benefits the Texas Wine and Grape Foundation, and features 13 local wineries, including Llano Estacado and Cap*Rock Winery, along with cooking competition and live music. Admission is $20 for one day, and $30 for both days.

Fisher said that Texas wines are becoming more and more popular on the wine scene. Recently, Texas wines have won a number of awards and taste tests, and according to Fisher, the climate in West Texas is surprisingly favorable for growing grapes and making wine.
