On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Lubbock Independent School District superintendent Berhl Robertson talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the latest developments with LISD.

The start of the 2013-2014 school year is less than 2 weeks away, but there are still numerous construction projects to be finished in LISD. The biggest projects that remain to be completed are the cafeteria of Lubbock High School, the track and field at Monterrey High School and the various interior renovations at Coronado High School. However, Robertson said that all 3 campuses will be ready for the first day of classes, though he did warn that parking at Coronado might be sparse for the first few days.

Robertson also talked about some of the other new addition to LISD this year, such as the new Alderson and Urban elementary schools, as well as a new expansion for the Talkington School for Young Women Leaders. He also discussed the grand opening of the new PlainsCapital Park athletic complex, saying that the facility is in great shape and is something Lubbock has been needing for a while. Classes for LISD start on Monday, August 26th.
