On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Eddie Kirkpatrick, candidate for LISD Board of Trustees District 3, talked with Chad and Rex about his campaign for the board of trustees.

Kirkpatrick said that one of his main issues is the lack of discipline in LISD. He said that instituting a district-wide dress code would be a good step forward in curtailing some of the discipline issues. Kirkpatrick also talked about LISD Superintendent Karen Garza, saying that she has made it clear she would like to move on, but he would still be willing to work with her.

"I think the committee that hired [Garza] had the right intentions. Hiring someone for a big school district maybe could fix some of the problems that they were looking at in LISD...but in hindsight, I think maybe we've made a mistake hiring her."

Kirkpatrick also talked about a number of different issues with LISD, including standardized testing, budgets, work study programs and improving teacher moral.
