Monday evening, the City of Lubbock released the latest candidate filings for the upcoming May election.

Mayor Dan Pope has filed to run for re-election and he will have at least one challenger. Local attorney Charlie Dunn has filed to challenge Pope for mayor.

Local advertising executive Randy Christian has filed to run for Lubbock City Council District 5.

Also, current District 3 councilman, Jeff Griffith announced that he will file to run for re-election.  

The candidate filing deadline for the May municipal elections is February 16th.
