Lady Raider Basketball Player Named Player of the Week

A Texas Tech women’s basketball player has received conference honors.

Senior forward Kierra Mallard has been honored as the Big 12 Player of the Week, making her the first Lady Raider basketball team member to be recognized by the conference this season.

The designation comes following an average of 18 points and 12 rebounds in two wins last week against Texas State and Penn State. Mallard has been the top scorer in three of the team’s seven games this season, as well as leading in rebounds for five games.

Mallard received the award last season as well, following their win over Baylor.

Tech is ranked 16^th in the Associated Press Poll, following their wins last week. The Lady Raiders will play UT-Arlington on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena.
