Today on Lubbock's First News, Clarissa Sanchez of the Komen Foundation dropped by to discuss details on a free breast cancer screening happening right here in Lubbock.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is a group dedicated to raising awareness and support for those with breast cancer. Clarissa Sanchez, a representative for the group, talked to Tom and Laura about an upcoming event focused on screening women for breast cancer. The event will take place this Saturday, the 14th, between 9AM and noon at Cavazos Middle School.

Women between 20 and 40 years of age are recommended to have a breast screening every 3 years, and women over 40 are recommended to have a screening every year. Not only is the screening free, but it will require no appointment and will run on a "first come, first serve" basis. Free mammograms will also be offered, but will be scheduled for another time and location.  For more information on this event, call their office at (806) 698-1900. For more information on the Komen Foundation, including how to donate, visit the Susan G. Komen Foundation website.
