On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Julie Holladay and Ronda Menefee, board members for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Lubbock, joined Tom Collins and Laura Mac to talk about some upcoming events to benefit the Komen Foundation.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Komen Foundation is hosting a number of events to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research. Today, the "Think Pink" event is taking place at the Lubbock Civic Center until 7 PM. The event includes a luncheon, speakers and a style show featuring breast cancer survivors. Tomorrow, the "Fit for the Cure" even takes place at Dillard's in the mall. And on Saturday, the "Race for the Cure" kicks off at 8 AM at the Civic Center. Participants can register either at the South Plains Mall or on site at 7:30 Saturday morning.

Local businesses are also helping to raise funds for Komen. X-Stream Auto Clean will be donating $1 to the Komen Foundation for every car wash with a pink sticker. Also, Rudy's Barbecue is offering 32-ounce cups for $1, with proceeds from the drinks going to Komen.
