AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Austin police say an officer has shot and wounded a man who stabbed another man outside a house and then refused to drop his knife as he moved toward the officer.

Interim Police Chief Brian Manley says the 59-year-old gunshot victim and the man he stabbed, identified only as a 69-year-old, are both hospitalized.

Manley says police body camera video shows the man with the knife walking in front of the house and the officer yelling numerous times at him to drop the weapon.

He says when the man refused, the officer opened fire. Police then found the stabbing victim on the front porch of the house.

The chief says officers had been summoned to the home Sunday morning after receiving a domestic violence call involving a man and woman.
