Kliff Kingsbury Talks Rusty Whitt, New Coaches at 2016 Texas Tech Football Media Day [Video]
Texas Tech football head coach Kliff Kingsbury discussed what his new coaches are bringing to the table during the off-season during the annual Texas Tech Football Media Day at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
The coach touched on the myriad coaching changes that happened after the team's 2015 season and the differences between his first year and this, his fourth.
Strength and Conditioning Coach Rusty Whitt, who's captured headlines for his no-nonsense and intense workout regimens, seems to be a hire that's already paying off for Kingsbury.
"I think Coach Whitt brought a great energy, accountability, intensity, and any time you have change I think it's good, and they responded," said Kingsbury, adding: "I think they're in the best shape we've been in since I've been here to get the season started."
"[Coach Whitt] is a no-nonsense guy, he knows what he wants, he's going to hold people accountable, he's going to push them to the limit. So it's been a great fit," he said.
"The staff chemistry is really good," Kingsbury told the press. "The guys are working hard, very pleased with the recruiting aspect of it. I think it's a good mix."
Kingsbury was also high on some OL players and their potential in 2016.
"We lost some seniors, but really we see Baylen Brown, Justin Murphy, Tony Morales all guys that started for us last year that will head that group up," Kingsbury said.
