Monday on Lubbock’s First News, Marla Harbin gave details on the upcoming Kick Cancer’s Classic basketball tournament. The benefits will go to Renee Wilson, former basketball player for Trinity Christian and Lubbock Christian University, who was recently diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer.

The tournament will be open to teams of third through 12th graders and will take place October 19th and 20th. It will be held at Trinity Christian, Lubbock Christian High School, Lubbock Christian University Rec Center, and the Rip Griffin Center. There will be a boys and girls division in the competition. The deadline to enter a team is Wednesday. The cost is $200 per team.

The event will start at about 8:00 am Saturday. Wilson is currently a student on leave in Galveston at the University of Texas Medical School. Harbin stated that the goal she hoped the efford would reach is “between $8,000 and $10,000.”
