On the Wednesday edition of Lubbock's First News, KFYO's Tom Collins showed support for Laura Mac and her fight against cancer by shaving his head live on the air.

Earlier in June, Laura discovered she tested positive for the BRCA 1 gene, a genetic mutation that significantly increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women. She underwent preventative double mastectomy surgery on June 28th, and is now beginning her first of four rounds of chemotherapy.

On today's show, Tom surprised Laura by announcing he would have his head shaved live on the show in support of Laura and her chemotherapy. Many guests and well wishers stopped by to show their support for Laura and shave off a portion of Tom's hair. Special guests included Laura's daughter Christie, Congressman Randy Neugebauer and Representative Charles Perry.

Keep up with Laura's fight against BRCA 1 by following her on the Collins and Mac Facebook page.
